Currently sitting at over 400,000 views, Ms. Hustle vs QB is the second-highest viewed female rap battle in history and probably the biggest/most anticipated main event at Queen Of The Ring. A look in the history books will reveal that these two were supposed to battle on URL years ago following an ongoing beef, but it never ended up happening.  After the battle was called off on several occasions, QOTR finally made it happen.  This was a dream matchup for many battle fans.  Memorable Moment: “I said I was battling Ms. Hustle and they was like, ‘Who the fuck is he!?!?”

I personally made this match up for Grind Time’s “Follow The Leader” event, as it was the last time I set up battles for GT.  In New York, it is very hard to beat Money Bagz, but I knew that John John was one of the only out of state rappers up for the challenge.  As soon as the battle was announced, everyone knew it would be pure fire from the start.  Memorable Moment: “Nickname’s Tea Pot - you just whistle when its hot” - This is a MUST SEE battle.

Reed Dollaz is one of the most known and celebrated underground emcees of our time - many question why he never landed a major deal, as he was undoubtedly the most watched rapper on youtube for (at least) a span of three years.  He has many classic freestyles and blogs floating around the net, but his most revered video of all time is his battle vs Trigga.  Classic Philadelphia-infused street delivery, crisp punchlines and an energy unmatched for someone his size has fans all over the world hoping Reed will make a return to the battle arena one day.  Memorable Moment: “Spray up the family van”

At a time where battle legends like Math Hoffa and T-Rex were starting to make a strong return to battle rap, a few new faces had arrived to the scene, but none as hungry as St. Louis’ Aye Verb.  Fresh off battles with SB, Hollow Da Don, Marvwon and Midwest/Young Miles, Verb was in rare form, looking like one of the best emcees to ever touch a battle stage.  Math was going to originally battle Miles, but he was so impressed with Verb’s performance (vs Miles) that he decided to take Verb.  One of the most debatable, anticipated and close battles in SMACK/URL history.  Memorable Moment: Math’s infamous biggie round. (Side note: Verb was talking about Norbes when he refers to Math’s manager ... for those that were wondering)

After only one week on BET’s 106th and Park, Jin had managed to have the whole world tune into watch his second battle on Freestyle Friday.  He proceeded to put on one of the most complete and memorable performances in battle history as he seamlessly wove together freestyles, rebuttals, and hard hitting punchlines.  What makes it even better is that everyone thought Sterling killed him with the Chinese jokes, until Jin spit his first line.  Arguably the best/most memorable performance in freestyle friday history.  Memorable Moment: “Check your Timbs, they probably say ‘Made In China.”

After being the first person to give Murda Mook any type of issues in a battle, Lux name quickly shot to the top of the rankings.  I can’t say this match was highly anticipated, due to the fact that SMACK DVD battles were usually a surprise, but I can imagine the few who heard of this battle going crazy.  After a classic match with T-Rex, Miles (along with X-Factor) had put the midwest battle scene on the map and was back to battle another high quality opponent.  Miles drove all the way from Detroit to Harlem, hopped out the car and started battling - unfortunately, fatigue set in and he couldn’t remember all of his rhymes.  On the other hand, Loaded Lux put on a lyrical display unmatched by emcees prior in the battle format.  Intricate wordplay and crazy metaphors polished with a charismatic delivery had many battle fans saying Lux was the G.O.A.T. after this performance.  Memorable Moment: Just watch the first round

When Lush One threw M.O.B. (Massacre of the Bay), Grind Time may have had a huge momentum swing - these were some of the most anticipated matches in battle history, as the fans were going crazy on forums and message boards, waiting to hear any news of the event.  What made this match even more epic was footage surfacing of QP’s baby momma busting a camera over his girlfriends head outside the venue, which ultimately got the venue shut down and led to QP being blamed for the main event, Arsonal vs Dizaster not finishing.   Also, Soul Khan seemed to have an ongoing beef with the S.O.N.S. crew and constantly called out all of them to battle.  QP vs Soul Khan has almost 2 million views, making it Grind Time’s second most watched battle behind Arsonal vs Conceited.  I’m not even going to talk about what happened in battle - just watch it.  Memorable Moment: Fuck you, fuck you ... you’re cool, fuck you!”

Grind Time was always the home of the “style clash.”  Emcees rhyming about the street life often met face to face with jokesters or what they like to call “backpack rappers” from the suburbs.  Having battled people like Mosh and Soul Khan, Cortez never had any problem taking on any opponent, which seemed to make him a novelty during GT’s beginnings.  Real Deal only had one questionable loss at the time, but made a name for himself after killing an impressive string of opponents.  Personally, I have watched no battle more than this one right here - the energy is through the roof and the styles clash perfectly, making for a great match with an even greater ending; the third round is classic.  Memorable Moment: “Have my son beat the shit outta yours!”

This may be one of the top 10 battles ever uploaded on URL’s youtube page, as many believe it is the best Proving Grounds battle EVER - its COLD.  The amazing thing about this match is the emcees took it on a week’s notice and is therefore, only one round.  It is Magic and John John’s introduction as two of battle rap’s elite performers.  The lines in this battle are so crazy - its almost impossible to pick a winner.  Memorable Moment: “Zab Judah noodle legs”

After an impressive and historic streak, Dumbfoundead was thinking about retiring from battle rap ... that is until he got called out by underground legend Pumpkinhead (aka PH) of Brooklyn Academy to battle at the classic “Battle Of The Bay 5” event.  All four rounds of this battle were filled with some of the biggest BODYBAG lines that I can remember.  This is definitely one of those videos you show to people who haven’t seen a rap battle since 8 mile.  Soon to be a million view battle.  Memorable Moment: King Latifah
